I make digital art about assimilating to new environments. Having been adopted from Asia, I continue to struggle with my assimilated identity and a "lost" natural past. My subject continues to be metaphors of uprooting displacement. Assimilasian is a project soon to be launched. I intend to create a Web space to begin a discussion for artists working with this topic.

In China I was referred to as a xiang jiao, which means banana. The banana is yellow on the outside and white on the inside. I learned that what we consider to be racist, in other countries, could be an attempt at understanding through analogy and humor. I believe they were trying to understand my situation and make a connection.
